Voice Based Diagnostics (VBD)

Smartphone-based cough detection and asthma/COPD screening from tracheal lung sounds (Pfizer CDI — VBD-1 & VBD-2).

Designed, developed, and deployed smartphone-based services for cough detection, respiratory disease analysis, and continuous screening using tracheal-acquired lung sound recordings. The pipeline runs in real time on commodity Android hardware using the built-in microphone, with abnormal/normal lung-sound classification and diagnostic models that distinguish asthma from COPD based on acoustic biomarkers and patient clinical history.

Developed under the externally funded Pfizer Collaborative Development Initiative (CDI) Voice-Based Diagnostics contracts (VBD-1 and VBD-2) at the University of Patras.
